Rangers Set £15m Price Tag for Moroccan Striker Amid Growing European Interest
Rangers are holding out for £15 million for their Moroccan forward, with several clubs across Europe showing strong interest.
French side Rennes are in the market for a new striker as they look to climb the Ligue 1 table after finishing 12th last season. They’ve already offloaded former Celtic forward Kyogo to Birmingham following his disappointing stint in France. Now, manager Habib Beye is keen on signing 22-year-old Igamane to revitalize his attack.
Reports from France suggest Igamane has emerged as a ‘priority target’ for Rennes, especially with fellow striker Arnaud Kalimuendo—valued at £20m—being pursued by Tottenham and Villarreal.
Lille had previously agreed personal terms with Igamane but failed to submit an official bid, reportedly unwilling to meet Rangers’ high valuation. The Moroccan striker netted 16 goals last season after his £1.7m move from FAR Rabat.
Everton, under David Moyes, have been linked with Igamane for months, while Dutch giants Feyenoord, managed by Robin van Persie, are also monitoring the situation. Additionally, Serie A’s Udinese have reportedly made initial contact with Rangers.
Meanwhile, Rangers’ other striker, Cyriel Dessers, remains in limbo as negotiations with AEK Athens stall. The Greek club offered £4m, but Rangers are holding firm at £5m.
Both Igamane and Dessers are expected to feature in Rangers’ squad for their Champions League qualifier against Panathinaikos tomorrow night. The Ibrox side warmed up with a 2-0 closed-doors friendly win over Hamilton, where Danilo scored both goals.
The Brazilian striker is pushing for a starting role after an impressive pre-season, including a goal and three assists in a 4-1 win over Dunfermline and another strike against Barnsley.
