CRYSTAL PALACE will discover their European future by August 11 after formally submitting an appeal to Uefa.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has acknowledged receiving the Eagles’ appeal, which challenges Uefa’s ruling to relegate them from the Europa League—a decision that sparked fan protests last week.
Palace are also demanding that Lyon and Nottingham Forest—who replaced them in the Europa League—be moved down to the Conference League instead.
CAS has confirmed the case will be expedited, with a final verdict expected no later than August 11, determining whether Palace stay in the Conference League or are reinstated to the Europa League.
The controversy stems from Uefa’s concerns over former owner John Textor’s ties to Lyon, who also qualified for Europe. Although Textor has since sold his stake in Palace and been removed from Lyon, neither club met Uefa’s multi-club ownership rules by the March 1 deadline.
All involved parties have been asked to present their arguments to CAS, which will then arrange a hearing.
Forest currently occupy Palace’s Europa League spot after raising objections with Uefa over Textor’s dual involvement at Selhurst Park and Lyon.
Palace maintain that Textor—who held a 43% share before selling to American billionaire Woody Johnson—had no controlling influence at the club. Chairman Steve Parish remains optimistic about overturning the decision.
“We are still fighting,” Parish said on The Rest is Football. “We’re appealing to CAS and are very hopeful. We believe we have strong legal arguments—this decision is unjust. We can prove, without doubt, that John Textor had no decisive control over the club.”
In a statement, CAS outlined Palace’s demands: “The club seeks to overturn Uefa’s ruling, which found them and Lyon in breach of multi-club rules, and requests reinstatement to the Europa League—either by removing Nottingham Forest or Lyon from the competition.”
