Brighton Held to 2-2 Draw by Southampton in Pre-Season Clash
Brighton played out an entertaining 2-2 pre-season draw against Southampton at St Mary’s, despite being without several key players. Yankuba Minteh’s brace put the Seagulls in control as Fabian Hurzeler’s side dominated for large periods. However, late fatigue allowed Southampton to fight back, with Jay Robinson pulling one back before Adam Armstrong leveled from the penalty spot.
Hurzeler remained upbeat, saying: “I’m happy with our performance. We controlled the game for 70-75 minutes, and although it’s disappointing not to win, there were plenty of positives. Now, we focus on refining the details and building fitness for the Premier League.”
Brighton’s final pre-season test comes against Bundesliga side Wolfsburg at the Amex on August 9, before their league opener against Fulham on August 16.
